Intensity

Greetings Faithful Readers,

For my entire life, I've been described as intense.  I'm not sure exactly what that means.  Do I follow rules too strictly?  Am I too uptight?  Do I always have a focused look on my face?  Each time I ask someone what they mean by it...they really can't describe it.  They say I "have an intensity" about me that they really can't explain.

I don't really see myself that way...but then again, we never really see ourselves the same way others see us.  Isn't intensity a good thing?  Or does this perceived quality that I have actually repel people?

Not sure...

The Team

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Many people don't know that it takes a team of over 80 volunteers to run the FRC Internet Campus each weekend.   From all over the globe, chat hosts, prayer teams, technical directors, board operators, programmers, Life Development leaders, Online Community teams, and the like give of their time to reach the planet for Christ.

Each of these teams is led by an incredible high-level leader...and I am honored and humbled to serve alongside them.   Each of them brings so much to this team... I can't wait to see what God is going to do in and through them as we head into another exciting ministry season.

Jonas

Greetings Faithful Readers....

Last night I had the chance to go to see the Jonas Brothers at the BankAtlantic Center with Brianna.  It was part of her birthday present...and we had a GREAT time!  I must say, I had no idea what 17,000 screaming tweenagers would sound like.  Just imagine being at the airport and trying to hold a conversation inside the engine of the jet you are flying on...that's almost as loud.

The opening bands: the Honor Society, the Wondergirls, and Jordin Sparks were decent...but the JoBros put on a great show with plenty of energy.   Like I said in my tweet... the best part was spending a few quality hours with my daughter.  She's growing so incredibly fast that I treasure any time we get the chance to do something like this... I soaked in every minute.

Here are a couple pics from the show:

Leaders Pay a Higher Price

Greetings Faithful Readers,

"Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly." James 3:1 (NLT)

I have been a part of the teaching team here at Flamingo since 2001... and I love it. I still get butterflies. I still feel that adrenaline rush when the lights come up and it's just me and my notes...ready to let the Holy Spirit speak through me. But I have a confession...

I get scared.

Not because I doubt what I have prepared is adequate... not because I doubt the gift that God has given me... not even because of the guy sleeping in the third row won't hear what I've got to say.

I get scared because of James 3:1

Leading through teaching brings judgment from God. Stricter judgment. God holds me personally accountable for every syllable of my words...and every action in my life before I speak these words.

But is a teacher in the church ONLY a Pastor?  No... Bible study leaders, preschool volunteers, children's hosts, video producers, etc. are all spiritual teachers of one kind or another.  Anyone who instructs spiritually will be held accountable for the words they share more harshly than those that don't.

Leaders pay a higher price.

But remember...if you are leading spiritually - you are blessed to have that opportunity.  God has chosen YOU to do it.  He will empower you...strengthen you...enlighten you...provide for you...and see you through your assignment!  Yes, the price you pay as a leader is more because you are held in higher account...but the accountability is necessary because the stakes for our success are so high.  People need the Word you are sharing in the unique way you share it ...lead on!

A Brief Tour of My New Workspace

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Just felt like breaking in the iPhone vid cam today and giving you a quick (and poorly shot) tour of my new workspace that I've been twittering about (www.twitter.com/BrianVasil)

Enjoy!
